Fun with Family – Christ Episcopal Oyster Roast 2014
What in the world?!
Valentine’s Day 2014
We started a new Valentine’s Day tradition last year. We have family over instead of going out. We decorate the house, light candles and dim the lights, cook a gourmet dinner and drink from fancy glasses. The kids, and the grown-ups, love it. Our 2nd annual Valentine’s celebration made it a very special night.
On the menu last night: dry rubbed, slow cooked baby back ribs with tomatillo sauce, broccoli sauteed in garlic and olive oil, Spanish rice, Mexican street corn, and homemade guacamole and chips. For desert: cupcakes from Cupcake and tiramisu!

Father – Daughter Valentine’s Dance
Heidi and Michael attended their first father-daughter dance this year. It was so sweet getting her ready with a fancy dress, a little blush, mascara and lip gloss. Then Daddy surprised her with a pearl necklace and bracelet! What a special night! I think Michael got ditched for her BFF after one dance (last pic.)

Cleaned out Wyatt’s closet. It’s gonna take a small fortune to keep this kid in shoes and clothes! #50lb3yroldsz13shoe
Heidi’s 4th Gotcha Day
Gotcha Day is different for every family. I suppose Heidi’s Gotcha Day was technically the day she came home from the hospital after being born but we celebrate the day her adoption was finalized as her Gotcha Day. We do the same with Wyatt. We make their favorite meal for dinner and then have a “Gotcha Day” cake with candles. Wyatt picked out the cake for her this year, very fancy pink, her “fay-brit” he said. I think she liked it! 😉

Heidi: “Mommy, Daddy is being naughty to you.”
Me: “What’s he doing?”
Heidi: “He’s telling you what he’s going to do.”
Me: “Why’s that naughty?”
Heidi: “Because he’s not supposed to tell you what he’s going to do; he’s supposed to do what you tell him to do.”

Tonight’s bedtime story: DC SUPER FRIENDS Flying High
Wyatt: “Where are the rest of the super heroes?”
Heidi: “Shopping probably. I wonder where Wonder Woman is. I bet she’s at work.”
