We recently explained to the kids, in their “speed”, about food giving you the energy to do things, i.e. play. You know, parents try everything to get their kids to eat, to clean their plates, etc. The bottom line is that they eat when they are hungry and you can’t make a kid eat. We know it and still we bang our head against that wall. Anyway, our explanation stuck; they get it. Sometimes for good and sometimes for mischief! For example, if we ask Heidi to do something before she has had her breakfast, if she is tired or feeling particularly non-compliant, then she says, “I don’t have enough injury.” If she is being a good eater and is trying to help her brother get motivated to do the same, she says, “I am getting a lot of injury!” 😉 Wouldn’t you know, it’s contagious! Michael and I now accidentally say “injury” instead of “energy” in everyday conversation. It will probably take another 3 months to fix that!
