No more monkeys jumping on the bed!

All kids do it.  It’s fun.  All parents tell their kids not to.  Heidi was cold busted the other day.  Here’s the story…

I walk into my room to find her jumping on my bed.  I tell her to stop; it’s against the rules; she could get hurt, yada, yada, yada.  She has a new trick in which she toes the edge of the bed, jumps up, lands her hiney on the edge of the bed, bouncing off to land feet first on the floor.  I always tell her not to do this, that she could miss, yada, yada, yada.

So, she’s jumping.  She makes her way to the edge of the bed.  She jumps up, kicks her feet out in front of her and lands a little too close to the edge, quickly sliding down the blanket to the floor.  She immediately looks up at me with the “Am I in trouble?” or the “I may be hurt but I’m not sure.” look.  She stands.  I ask if she’s okay.  She is.  Then I launch into my spiel about how she was lucky this time not to get hurt, etc.  I tell her it is against the rules and not to do it again.  Her response?  “Okay Mom, but that was really cool, huh?!”  I didn’t answer her.  “Mom, that was really cool, huh?!”
