tRiCk or TrEaT!

I was concerned that their trick or treating costumes might not survive 3 hours of preschool. So, I decided to try this kitty costume on Heidi. My Mom made it for me when I was little. I was thrilled that Heidi could wear it to school on Halloween.

Same here. Could Buzz survive a day of preschool. It was a risk I wasn’t willing to take! Picked up a hat and bandanna, I made his belt and vest and found a sheriff badge.

Heidi was a happy girl at her school party!

She was so excited when I got there and was so loving. She even asked her teacher to pour me some green ghoul punch!

Wyatt was not as outward in his enthusiasm to see me. In truth, while he is a lover, he is a man’s man and more into Michael than he is me.

The carnival had a mini haunted house and corn maze. Do they dare?

“RRRaaaarrrr!”

Not quite fully masked candy bandit.

“I a cowboy, EEE-HA.”

They love their Miss Catherine!

During trick or treating, when asked if she was a Monarch butterfly, she replied “No, I’m a Heidi Rose butterfly.”

Buzz worthy! 😉

We almost had lobster for dinner but decided on candy instead!

Looking for fellow trick or treat participants and wondering if it is time to GO!

Checking out their wings. Wyatt’s lit up blue or red. Very cool.

And they’re off!

We even did some drive-by trick or treating!

A Family Visit in Valdosta

Heidi enjoyed the view of the courthouse and the rest of downtown Valdosta from the rooftop of keira's restaurant, Steel Magnolias.

Heidi’s and Wyatt’s First Inshore Fishing Trip – Sept 2012

Our kids have been boating since they were 3 months old and love it!  They are my little old salts!  Historically we have always just gone for boat rides or up to Caper’s Island for a beach day.  (Capers is only accessible by boat and has been kept natural, with no homes or paved roads on it.)  Recently, they have asked Michael to take them fishing.  September is wonderful for fishing!  It has cooled off a little bit and the fish seem to be more plentiful.  I was a tad worried that fishing might not be as exciting for them as riding but was pleased to find they were really into it.  We hit the spot at just the right time in the tide and the fish were biting.  They did so well that we stayed out past their bedtime and had a picnic on the boat while fishing!  We caught a few that were within the size limits and had fried fish for dinner the next day.  The kids couldn’t get enough!  My southern babies know what good food is!

Getting a bait fish from the live well is tricky!

A little beginners lesson starts Heidi off right!

Fish on!

Reel, reel, reel!

Who’s proud of who?

That’s a keeper…in more ways than one!

Wyatt’s turn!

Wyatt’s catch was within the size limits for keeping!

Yay! We get to eat tonight!

This is so cool!

Wyatt is passionate about the things he enjoys. Clearly, fishing is going to be one of them!

It was eye-closing exciting! Now that’s serious!

In case you didn’t know, this is a fishing game face.

These are signature fishing moves…often imitated, never duplicated!

YaYa caught a few fish too but was more interested in our crew!

Not to be outdone…

If we were counting on Michael’s catch for dinner, we’d go hungry because it was too big!

Wyatt tries for another with Mommy.

He’s guiding my hand as I reel. He’s a fast learner, this little fisherman!

Success!

Dinner time!

Pretty spot tail, red fish, red drum…take your pick. A rose by any other name…

Kids Teeth PINKTASTIC Party

To raise awareness about breast cancer and money toward the cause, the pediatric dentist we use personally and refer to professionally through my office hosted their 2nd annual PINKTASTIC PARTY.  We roasted marshmallows, danced to the music from the band, had our faces painted, got feathers in our hair, played on the shrimp boat in their playroom and ate nothing but cake and cookies for dinner!  It was great!  I had to take the kids in the backyard when we got home so they could run off all of their extra energy before bed!

Heidi, ever the princess (and perfect hostess), walked up to everyone at the party thanking them for coming to her party.  It was too cute!

I know it’s a PINKTASTIC party, but I REALLY love to wear THIS green shirt as often as possible.

Yuck

It’s time to scoop poop.  Heidi is an excellent poop scout, finding every pile and very quickly. For the first time, today she wanted to look at the poop on the shovel. She got a little close and I told her to back up. She did, but not before inhaling deeply. I chucked the poop into the woods and heard her gag
behind me, saying “I don’t like that poop to get in my mouth.” Wise woman.

Legare Farms Pumpkin Patch

What’s a trip to the pumpkin patch without a tattoo?!

She’s on a mission.

He’s on a different kind of mission.

“Come on guys, we just woke up from a killer car nap and you wanna take pictures?”

“See my letter H?”

“I love my letter H!”

Lazy pumpkin-patchers

Mmmmm, sno-cone!

It’s hay ride time!

It’s feeding time!

Protective Daddy 🙂

They heard a cow “moo” for the first time. They have heard it on television or in games but never in real life. It was a really cool moment.

On goodie, he’s going in for a kiss…

She’s a happy little cowhand!

Charlestowne Landing

On tap for Saturday afternoon at Charlestowne Landing: a lady, a rocker and a nose picker. Should be interesting.

Our treasured friend, Ryan Elsey, was all smiles!

Photo op with Heidi!

“I don’t have time for this, Mom!” says Wyatt

Happy kids checking out the otter exhibit.

The totem pole was a big draw and made a great place for peek-a-boo.

Snack time!

On board the Adventure, a reproduction of a 17th century coastal cargo vessel that traded with Barbados.

See Ryan in the cargo hold?

Is he captive or looking at one?

This bucks for you, Ryan!

Toothpaste

I was brushing my teeth the other day when Heidi joined me in the bathroom.  Of course monkey see – monkey do, so she wanted to brush her teeth too.  I put her Little Bear toothpaste on her brush and gave it to her.  After a few minutes of brushing she asked to try my toothpaste, Colgate Total – mint flavor.  She tasted it and thought for a minute, finally looking up at me and saying, “I don’t love it.”
