Moi?!

So, Mike has been out of town for a few days.  As such, the kids were very excited when he got home tonight around 7:00 and both of them wanted him to put them “night-night.”  Of course, he can only put one down at a time so when he got Wyatt down he joined Heidi and me in her big girl bed for the tail end of the story I was reading.  Heidi had to scoot over to make room for all of us in her daybed and I heard a little squeak as she did.  “Heidi was that you?  Did you toot toot?” I said.  She replied, “Yes, my hiney maked that sound.”  In the next breath, as she took my face in her hands, she said very seriously, “Mommy, that was Daddy.  He toot toot.  Not me.  It WAS Daddy.”

Fast learner!  Everyone knows ladies do not “toot toot”, or whatever YOU call it.  😉

(And you for sure never call a lady out on it!)

July Faves

Poor baby! She was so tired that she fell asleep in her bowl!

We got to see the Glenn girls a lot in July! Though a year + difference in age, at times Audrey and Wyatt look like twins! They also look guilty!

SASSY!

Pianos are not just for classical musicians! Rockers love them too!

All Boy! Cowboy hat, baseball jammies and measuring tape = tough, athletic, handy!

Camo Tilly

Heidi had her first “spend the night.” She and MiMi had a blast!

Gram and Pap Pap came for a visit!

And gave good snuggles!

Camo Tilly 2!

Hmm. What does he have? What is he eating?

The whole block of cheese, held by the cheese knife!

That’s not good! (At the SC Aquarium)

Double whammy! I’ll bet that shark spits them out!

Captain Heidi

The Elsey boys make for fun evenings!

Hmmm. I promise I DID NOT put him in there!

Now that is a bug!

Eyed Click Beetle, found in our yard. 2 inches long!

Casanova!

Snuggling Ella Glenn. I think he outweighs her. Poor girl probably can’t breathe!

Growing Up

H – “Bubby, I have spend the night.”
W – nothing
H – “Bubby, I have spend the night with MiMi.”
W – “Yeah.”

Heidi had her first “spend the night” last night.  It was with MiMi, our Miss Verna, and she had a great time!  There was no midnight call to pick her up and when I went to get her this morning she was visibly more grown up and acted quite the big deal.

She is.  🙂

So, Wyatt sounds like he doesn’t care, right? Truth be told, he asked for Heidi last night when going to bed.  They usually kiss each other good night.  He said, “Kiss Si Si?”

Feeding a nearly two year old requires a little creativity.

Wyatt refused to eat his much loved, often requested spaghetti tonight asking instead for milk and cookies. After holding out through dinner, giving Heidi ice cream and cookies, eating cookies myself he still would not yield. As it turns out he just needed a little more, somewhat different motivation. A little taste of cookie proved to be the incentive he needed and he finished all of his spaghetti, alternating bites of cookie with bites of spaghetti, sometimes eating them together. I’ve never seen a happier child! Innovation!

Spending Heidi’s Birthday Money

Heidi is very familiar with coin money. We use it with her piggy bank as a reward system. Paper money means nothing to her so when she received two five dollar bills in her card from MiMi she exclaimed, “Ooooh look! Tickets!!!” With a smile I explained paper money to her and she promptly put her money in her butterfly purse saying, “I want to go shopping.” I told her we would go to the toy store after I got home from work the next day.

Fast forward to 5 PM the next day and Heidi and I are off to the toy store. By chance I parked facing the grocery store rather than the toy store and Heidi asks if she can go in with me. “Of course” I tell her. She said, “Mommy, I don’t know how to spend my money.” “Honey, I will help you” I say. (I think to myself, spending money is something I can help her with!)

We head into the toy store, purses over shoulders and Heidi has no trouble at all deciding on what she will buy. A Melissa and Doug butterfly hopscotch was to go home with us. Like the 3 year old big girl that she is, she handed her money to the cashier, got her change and we were on our way home.

🙂

Happy Birthday, Heidi!

H: “Mommy, I am being a big girl; you be a princess.”

That’s pretty awesome considering it’s her birthday, not mine. 😉 Ahh, the chance not to be a big girl? Yes, please.

Happy 3rd birthday, my precious gift of a girl.

Heidi’s 3rd birthday was a splash!

Dress for success!

Less is more, Heidi! Less is more! Lip gloss + toddler = More is more.

If more is more on the face then more will be less in the lip gloss container.

Trying to play with/wear every gift at one time. 😉

Heidi’s 3rd mark on the wall. Sniff, Sniff!

Heidi loves her letter “H” and finds it all over town! When she asked if she could add her letter “H” to the wall, I could not resist. What a treasure this will be as she gets older.
