Easter Resolution

Every month I post pictures from our life.  By our life I mean photos of the kids…their life in captioned pictures.  I’d like to share more stories but can’t seem to carve out the time, because the “stories” happen on our busiest of days in fleeting moments but the pictures keep until I can get to them.  I’ve said before that this blog is my love letter to my children, their baby book (because I only started them…), their life story, a detailed timeline of their childhood that they will be able to look back on throughout their lives.  I realized today that most of the mini-moments of our life as a family end up on facebook, rather than here; the quotes from Heidi (and soon Wyatt), the pics I’ve taken with my phone, the Mom-isms and more.  So, here are the moments I’ve posted on facebook since the beginning of the year.  Easter is a good day for resolutions.  I resolve to share more of the “big” and “little” stories of our lives.

Easter Morning

4-7-12

I think we have reached the phase of potty training where your child wants to “potty” in every new place you go. By “potty” I mean SEE the potty, not necessarily use it, as in today’s visit to Lowe’s where she needed to “potty” three times but never actually “pottied.”

 4-7-12

Cooking with kids…that is a bee sticker in the broccoli salad.

4-5-12

There’s nothing like getting into bed at 11:30 and realizing you forgot your commitment to make an adult appetizer and sweet for your child’s Easter egg hunt that is tomorrow morning at 9:30. Combine that with the simultaneous realization that you are going to need your husband to meet you at the party with your child because you have an 8:15 appointment 30 minutes from home and from the party so you will not have enough time to return home, get your child, make it to the party on schedule or “whip” something up in the morning rather than tonight with the lack of ingredients in your bare pantry. Thank goodness for the 24 hr grocery store up the road.

4-3-12

I’m pretty sure this means she had a good day.

4-1-12

We’re in the car on a five hour road trip.

Heidi (2.5 yrs old and potty training): “I need to poop.”

Me: “Okay, can you hold it a minute?”

Heidi: “No! I can’t HOLD it! It’s yucky to hold your poop! (in your hand, she means) That’s gross! It’s not nice!”

 3-27-12

Project time! Lift that foot up, Heidi! That big toe makes a perfect handle!

3-27-12

“Mommy, you say “Yes ma’am.” You no say “Mmmm hmmm.”“

I guess she’s been listening.

3-25-12

Me from the top of the jungle gym: “Heidi!?”

Heidi: “What?”

Me: “Oh, there you are…just making sure.”

Heidi: “What’s naked shirt?”

3-2-12

Heidi put on her oversized sunglasses this morning and said, “Mommy, I am a STAR MOVIE.” 🙂 She sure is!

3-1-12

Stop taking pictures and get me some more ice cream!

2-8-12

Tonight, while I helped Heidi get ready for bed, Wyatt “stocked” his crib for the evening. Yeah right, buddy.

1-31-12

Melt my heart! Little Heidi Rose looked at me really hard last night and said, “Mommy, you have my eyes.” It was the first time she has noticed a likeness in us and it was priceless.

1-20-12

The fact that I just dressed Wyatt in the pink ponies and hearts pajama I pulled out for Heidi rather than the hockey one I had out for him is a good indication that I am very tired and have had one of those days.

1-8-12

“I not Dunlap; I princess.” Heidi, sometimes Mommy feels the same way.
