Heidi’s 1st Preschool Easter Egg Hunt

For each child, some days, events, hours, even minutes should be all about them, right? You know, center-of-the-universe moments? This was one of Heidi’s. Mike and I both attended, leaving Wyatt with Miss Catherine in order to give Heidi our undivided attention, something she rarely gets since welcoming Wyatt when she was just 14 months old. It was fun and we obviously adore our little show stealer!

Easter Sunday!

The Easter Bunny came!

Off to church to celebrate!

Granny, I can see you!

Let the egg hunt begin!

Little cousins.

Big cousins. It’s hard to look at the camera with all of this candy as a distraction.

Death to the chocolate bunny! 😉

Child of the Day at Preschool! See her chosen “toy” for show and tell?! See Mommy’s handiwork on that poster of family pics?

“Here comes it!”

That’s what Heidi said when she heard the ice cream truck coming back around the corner.

We were in the backyard when we first heard the music. “You hear dat?” Heidi said. We ran to the front yard but missed it! Thankfully it would have to go back by our house to exit the neighborhood. We waited.

Neither of the kids have ever seen an ice cream truck before. To be honest, I’ve never had ice cream from an ice cream truck before. They don’t make it down rural dirt roads like the one I grew up on. 😦 I’ve lived in town for almost 15 years but still haven’t bought ice cream from an ice cream truck. Some things are just more exciting when you are a kid. As luck would have it, some things are more exciting when you have kids. 🙂 So when I heard the music I was thrilled to see the kids’ reactions when they realized where the music was coming from.

Now y’all know how social Heidi is. When she got to the truck she told the guy, “This is an ice cream truck.” His reply? “Ha, Ha. Thanks for letting me know!” In regards to the music playing, she looked at him and said, “Y’all singing a song?”

It was 5:30 PM. Dessert before dinner? Why not? It’s not every day you have your first ice cream from an ice cream truck!

THUMBS UP!

“I finished my ice cream!”

Delish!

Heidi’s Favorite Animal

She LOVES butterflies…in person, on clothes, as an art project…you name it. This evening we found a tiny moth on the ground beside her swing. She was ecstatic! It stayed on her hand for a few minutes before flying away. A moth isn’t a butterfly? Didn’t matter to her! If my baby says “it’s a wittle tiny butterfly” then it is!

Meet “Pig”, our new reward system helper. 1 coin for tinkle in the potty, 2 coins for poo in the potty and a coin or two for good behavior. Here’s to Heidi getting rich!

It’s a zoo out there!

We took the kids to Riverbanks Zoo, in Columbia, a week ago. We had a great time! Here is the evidence!

Heidi has never met a REAL bunny, just her stuffed animal bunnies, which are her favorite! This was a big deal. She was precious! Both were.

My brave little man!

The elephants were right behind her but the penny flattening machine was of more interest! She didn’t care about the penny (we didn’t have 51 cents in change), just loved cranking the handle!

Wyatt preferred pushing the buttons on the coke machine over viewing the elephants! (Heidi didn’t get a flat penny; he didn’t get a coke.)

Now you see me!

Now you don’t! (But I’m there!!!)

When we walked up, the gorilla wandered right over and sat down right in front of Wyatt, who acted as if it was the most normal thing ever.

PENGUINS!

At Christmas we rode a carousel. It was not a hit with Heidi, at all. Four months later it is apparent she suffered no trauma from that experience. She LOVED it!

Wyatt loved it too!

At the end of the day, just before the zoo closes, music is played and hula hoops brought out. Heidi and Wyatt loved it! Michael and I loved it too but found our hula hoop skills need work!
